Jason Mayerle unexpectedly passed away on July 5th, 2025. He was a devoted husband to Andrea and a wonderful father to Lauren, who cherished him deeply. The family kindly asks that, in lieu of flowers, friends and loved ones consider making a donation in Jason’s honor to publicly funded media organizations - causes that were especially meaningful and personal to him. My wife and I will never forget how Jason and his family welcomed us to LA and made us feel we weren’t alone. Talking to him made you feel at peace, like everything would be okay. This photo is from our first dinner with him and Andrea in LA. We never got the chance to go diving together, and we shared far too few bottles of red wine. But the stories, the laughter, and his calm, grounding presence will stay with us.

Our families spent time together on many vacations and outings over the years. Jason was a pro at navigating theme parks. He could get us from one end of the park to another with speed, patience and good humor. This past year, I was able to visit LA almost 3 times. I stayed with Jason, Andrea, and Lauren each time. In March, I took the family out to eat at a nice place they liked in Hermosa Beach. As we walked out I asked them to let me take a picture. This was it. This is simply unbelievable....my love and prayers to Lauren and Andrea.
