I still remember the first time I visited GUtech before I became a member. I was in the parking lot, and I saw Prof. Urai walking towards me. He smiled and introduced himself, and we started talking about his field trips and projects with new students. I was immediately struck by his passion for science and his dedication to teaching and research. He was so enthusiastic about his work, and he made it clear that he wanted to share his knowledge with others, and we thank him for his contribution to Oman and to the German University of Technology in Oman (GUtech) where he was the Acting Dean of Applied Geosciences for 4 years and continued his support until recent days. We are deeply saddened for his sudden loss.
