When I started working for Shell Research in Rijswijk, NL in 1991, I was introduced to all the geoscientists in the subsurface department. I still remember one person from my first days at work very vividly and that is Janos Urai. He managed to grab my attention with a bucket of water, a straw and an upside down flower sieve on his desk introducing seal integrity of subsrface gas traps to me. What a way to teach people! Indeed unforgetable and that is what Janos will be. So sad to see him go so suddenly, just after the German Geological Society (DGGV) has awarded him the Gustav-Steinmann-Medal at GeoMinKöln in 2022 (https://www.dggv.de/wp-content/uploads/2023/06/Ehrung_Urai2022_Laudatio.pdf). He will stay with us as an inspirational geoscientist, teacher and friend. Jürgen Grötsch
