Dear Janos, I am so thankful that I was a student of yours many years. I was drawn into your department by the open culture that you introduced, the endless ideas and an unstoppable energy. It was so much different then everything else in Aachen. You listened, you discussed, you overloaded all of us with your ideas and your enthusiasm. I remember the tough days for us students when you came back from vacation. You had so much in your head, that we had to line up in front of your office and one by one we got flooded with ideas and suggestions. It was difficult to catch up. In the eight years of Diplom and Doktorarbeit I learned so much. Every now and then you gently pushed me to move my limits (you called this positive stress), showed me not to overcomplicate things, that life is good. I remember so many occasions in which you explained complex problems with every-day items of your kitchen, bringing science to a wide audience. This is what I always admired and I am trying to follow your example as often as possible. We lost you too early but your great character and personality, the memories you left and the way you shaped the path of so many of us persists.
Thank you, for everything. Marc
