My dearest Friend Jane,
It breaks my heart to write this, knowing you has been an utter privilege and I will treasure our memories together. I didn’t know on that faithful call to arms for Kickstart that I was soon to meet a very special person, Saturday morning absolutely bewildered at the task at hand you didn’t hesitate to get stuck in. You are the hardest working person I have ever met, always wanting to get it right first time. Your fierce determination was not just for your work but always for your friends and standing up for what is right, never putting yourself first but always ensuring people around you were happy. I will never forget those all day calls manically putting together powerpoints and your stories of the RAF and wild escapades kept me laughing, always calling yourself a ‘Silly Woman’ but you were far from that. You’re a brave, kind fantastic woman!
Finally meeting you after a whole year of working together was surreal, I have never laughed so much. All 4 of us getting so drunk at the meal that we couldn’t remember what we had ordered, dancing the night away in the gar bars and ending up at a drag show (on a Tuesday night too!) will always be one of the best nights of my life.
Keeping in touch with our little family has got me through so much this year, hearing about your trip to Florida really brought me joy. You could feel how happy you were, and it was no shock when you decided your next chapter was going to be in Florida! We were all so excited and planned to go and see you once you were settled in! But sadly, life can be so cruel, and it will forever upset me that you didn’t get to go and taste that new life.
You touched so many lives and I don’t think you even realised it, my sweet friend I will miss you so much. Thank you for being you.
Love always
Lauren
