Prof. Jan Dewing was The Sue Pembrey Chair in Nursing and Director of The Centre for Person-centred Practice Research, and Head of Graduate School at QMU. Jan was a visiting Professor at Marabor University, Slovenia, and a member of several international networks, including The International Community of Practice for Person-centred Practice Research and Sigma Global, and was the current President for the new Omega Xi chapter. Jan had an international reputation for expertise in person-centred practice research, person-centred cultures, and care and gerontological practice research including care of people living with dementia. Her research extends to Ireland, Norway Switzerland, Canada and Australia. As well as a significant clinical practice, management and leadership record, Jan held various posts within academia as well as received several awards in the UK and Australia for her nursing leadership and influence. She was widely published: her research and scholarship work can be located on eResearch and Research Gate. Jan was the founding academic editor for The International Practice Development Journal from 2011 until June 2019. She had a profoundly positive impact on doctoral student life at QMU and will be much missed.
