From Yasmin Gunaratnam: 'Aunty Inez', as she was to me, was always a solid and reassuring presence. She seemed immersed in and defined by her roles as wife, homemaker and mother; all of which she carried out with a quiet intelligence and style. Her love for my uncle Robert and Lalin and Rohan was absolute and steadfastly unconditional. I know how proud she was of her sons and grandchildren. I wish I could have spent more time with her, but treasure the past few months when I learnt more about her life and grasped something of her singular qualities, wisdom and humour.
