Deepest condolences to those nearest and dearest to Ian. My thoughts are with you in this tragic time, and I hope you find solace in good memories. As a colleague of Ian's, he will be dearly missed by all who have had the pleasure. May his spirit of adventure live on in those who knew him. Rest In Peace.

I met Ian in 1972 through Southampton University Caving Club and enjoyed his company immensely both above and below ground. He was always calm and cheerful with a great sense of fun. I remember that back in those days of homemade wetsuits his had a completely pointless devilish tail that swished behind as he crawled along. A lovely guy of whom I have nothing but the fondest memories. Andy Sparrow
