It has taken me a while to accept that you are gone, Herman. I am finding it hard to put in words the impact Herman had on my life. You hired me in KPMG (still remember our first meeting during my final interview in Manchester) and subsequently worked together in EY and Anmut. Herman was genius at work - visionary, strategic with relentless passion for perfection. Beyond work, over the years we became close friends. He would always make time to meet, he would welcome me to his family for braai, birthday celebration in South Africa and Christmas celebration. Herman joined many significant personal moments for me such as my wedding day and was the first friend to visit us in St. Thomas’ hospital when my son was born. Herman was one of the most interesting people to spend time with over a bottle of red and always there to give an advice but never judge. I recall our last dinner, 10 days or so before his untimely passing, we talked about Anmut and the future of our industry. He will be missed by many and I am going to miss one of my best friends.
