Hari has been my best friend for some years now. We knew each other for almost 30 years. Our friendship grew deeper as the years passed. He was my classmate at Loyola college, Madras, and we used to be a gang of 5 creating mischief wherever we were. We used to spend a lot of time in the cricket ground, roam about in Hari's fiat with a Ferrari sticker on it and his car was well known in the college. He was so popular in our college, with professors, and won prizes for our college in competitions. He was multi skilled, artistic and wise. He was the main reason why our Botany department was the one and the only department to have gone on a study/fun trip to Andamans for over 21 days. Our friendship grew more and more after we graduated. We weren't hanging out every week but we always spoke at length over the phone and used to talk about our college days and gossip about our other friends. He used to be a cool dude. Hari had a heart of gold and he used to help a lot of underprivileged people. Hari was the first innovator that had thought about creating a map for Madras/Chennai and started his innovative venture Naviga maps, well before the advent of Google maps. He used to share the news of the development of his project with me. He always liked the fact that I believed in him and that I was a good listener without any judgement about what he was sharing with me. I knew he had a unique creative mind and he knew that I knew. We had mutual admiration for each other. He liked my music and my philosophy and I liked his being and his intelligence. I have to write a book about my friendship with him. His Naviga map project was to be extended around the country by mapping the entire country. He did a great job with Madras and he was interviewed by news papers and other media. In those days there was no fb and other such platforms to give him proper recognition. But it (according to me) got nicked from him by powers that be. People need to know, the maps probably was an idea that started with Hari but eventually delivered by others. Hari, over a period of time has become my most trusted friend and we continued our friendship till the last days of his untimely passing. I knew of most of his activities and he knew mine. We always shared what's happening in our lives. Even after I moved to the UK, which he thought was the best thing for me, we grew in friendship quite a lot that we looked forward to meeting each other whenever I went to Madras. We have had dozens of hours of conversations between us. There never was a boring moment in our friendship. I also have to mention that Hari took great pride in his family. His daughter Salloni has been his pride and he spoke a lot about her to me in person on my last visit, taking so much pride that she is going to grow up as a great human being and an achiever. Hari and I were planning to grow old as buddies and spoke about how we would be in our old age etc. He was becoming more and more spiritual and unravelling the secrets of life and becoming more philanthropic in his thoughts and had plans to help people, establish a cultural center to be used by all the people, promote arts etc. Alas, we have lost a brilliant mind, a noble human being and me personally, my best buddy, that's irreplaceable in this life time. To put it succinctly, Hari is/was the kind of a son a parent would dream to have, a husband that a woman will find total confidence and security in, a father that the child will depend on eyes closed, all their life as a best mate, take as an umbrella, rain or sunshine, a friend that you can share your deepest secrets with and be sure he guards them in his heart. He was my friend in previous births and will be in future births too. We are connected spirits. If I have one regret, it is that I couldn't help save him as he was silent about what he went through in the end even though I asked him how he was. He said I am fine with a ☺. Typical!! I wish him all the best for his future in the astral realms and for his future births on to the physical plane as he has a lot to offer to this hapless world we live in. He is with his spiritual guides and he will come back. It is a journey of thousand duties. He will do it to perfection. I know. Love you lots my buddy. Take care.
