Hajia Damata Sulemana

August 10, 1955 - January 25, 2021

In loving memory of the Late Hajia Damata Sulemana the Vice President of the Ghana Registered Midwives Association (GRMA). She passed on at the Greater Accra Regional hospital on January 25, 2021 from complications of COVID-19 infection. Until her untimely demise, Hajia as she was affectionately called, was the Manager and Proprietress of the Hajia Damata Maternity Home and CHPS Compound providing health services to Maamobi and the surrounding Communities. Hajia Damata qualified as a midwife from the Hohoe Midwifery school in 2003 and joined the Greater Accra Chapter of the Ghana Registered Midwives Association in 2004. She worked at the Greater Accra Regional Hospital formerly Ridge Hospital and Adabraka Polyclinic. She also served her community as an Assembly Woman. She was passionate about midwifery. As a preceptor, was an asset for clinical skills building for colleagues, student midwives and newly qualified midwives including medical students. She was a valued member of the GRMA rising through the ranks and being a strong advocate for the midwifery profession, maternal, child and adolescent health services. Hajia is survived by her children and host of loved ones. We at GRMA will forever cherish memories of her life with us. Rest in peace noble midwife.
