I had the privilege of having 'Oom Fred', as I affectionately called him. as a partner in a surgical/pharmaceutical distribution business whilst he owned the Hydromed Group of hospitals. I recall having an almighty fight with him over a simple wage issue. He was a tough negotiator and didn't relent that easily. However after loud words and elevated blood pressure on both our parts, all was amicably settled. Mutual respect was retained and the outcome was a great friendship that will long be remembered. May he rest in peace.
