We are deeply sorry by the unexpected news of Fons’ passing. Fons was a highly esteemed scholar and a dear friend and mentor for us. Over many years, he regularly came to Bergen. His passion for pursuing academic and research excellence was an inspiration to us, and we remember how he generously shared his professional insight. Our first point of contact was about tricky methodological question related to cross-cultural comparisons. Since then, we collaborated on many projects. He was a highly appreciated supervisor and teacher to many of our students. In addition to the very interesting scientific exchange, we enjoyed his pleasant personality and humor. It was a pleasure to accompany him on hikes around Bergen and to meet him on different places around the world. Fons will be deeply missed. We express our heartfelt condolence to Lona, Fons' family and friends.
