Dr Jonathan Nicholls, Registrary of the University of Cambridge from October 2007 to December 2016, and Emeritus Fellow of Emmanuel College, passed away on 14 March 2022. Jonathan was Registrar and Secretary of the University of Birmingham (2004-2007) and Registrar at the University of Warwick (1999-2004). Most recently, he was Senior Higher Education Adviser at FutureLearn, the Open University's digital courses platform.

He was thoughtful, engaged and always interested in the goings on of different parts of the University, and would even appear from time to time in our centres to pass time between meetings or use a desk. Jonathan was a great source of advice and guidance to me and will be greatly missed. My thoughts are with his family.
