I was really shocked with the sadden news that I heard yesterday via a message sent by Professor Gianluca Li Puma. Although I have known Dion since 1996 when he was a Ph.D. Student at the University Of Cincinnati I never discussed with him his health issue as he was in my view always very energetic. Dion, started helping in organizing the TiO2/AOTs conferences since 1996. He chaired along with his/my friend Gianluca Li Puma many versions of AOTs conferences. He was also chosen as Editor in Chief for the Journal of Advanced Oxidation Technologies for several years. He was an outstanding scientist in every task he tackled. I was happy that Dion had given an out standing plenary lecture in the last virtual conference I organized in October 16-18, 2023.
As Gianluca wrote: Rest in peace Dion .. your outstanding work, dedication to academic service and kindness to people will never be forgotten among all us, your friends and the many colleagues around the world.
Finally my sincere condolences to his wife Paula and his two daughters'.

A huge loss for the scientific community. I had the chance to collaborate with Dion and we published one paper in CEJ. Dion is simple and modest person, very supportive and helpful. I wrote him for the first time when I was at my very early career with very simple CV and he gave me time and attention, which I appreciated it a lot. Dion is special My condolences to his family, Ridha Djellabi
