We first got to know Dennis over 30 years ago when you joined the BB with William. They were a lively pair, maybe a little mischievous, but quite a few were like them. They were caring, polite, enjoyed having fun with all the activities that there were on offer. Even after they both left the Brigades, whenever you would see them about, they would always say hello or are you ok.
Dennis I (Karen) am sorry I wasn't able to be at your funeral to celebrate your life, but I have been fortunate enough to listen to a recording of your funeral and not even a dry eye whilst listening to the lovely reflections of your life from a large array of all your family and friends. One of your songs that was played "He aint heavy, he's my brother", made me smile, because I always thought (and it is a standing joke in my family)! "He's in heaven, he's my brother", so that is true for you - so I sang the song crying and listening by changing the words to He's in heaven, he's my brother. So true and apt for you Dennis.
I admire you Dennis for letting everyone know who you were and what an amazing person you were.
I will never forget you Dennis, but will always remember you as a pair - Dennis and William.
We can all look up to the sky above and see the brightest, sparkly and glowing star and know that is you looking down upon us and shining a bright light for us all to see you.
We will miss you fondly Dennis, have fun with all your laughter, jokes and of course music and dancing up in heaven, have an amazing time.
RIP Dennis. Love Karen & John Cruxton (Friends of Burntwood Boys' Brigade) xx
