Denise and I met in college, some 35(ish) years ago. We shared a sense of humor (low key, sardonic, and snarky), a taste for science fiction, fantasy, and mystery novels (especially screwball mysteries. She introduced me to Dorothy Sayers, I retaliated with Charlotte MacLeod), and Sunday afternoons at McMenamins. We met through role-playing gaming, and we still laugh at some of her character descriptions. She always laughed her head off at my latest tales of how I sent another work truck to the repair shop, even reminded me about those stories the last time we spoke - with her usual laugh about it. She was bright and smart and funny, and I never knew her to want to do anything other than as right as possible. She will be missed.
