I wish to pass on my sincerest condolences to Denis' family. I met Denis many times at conferences, in London, and even in Toulouse, after first meeting him as a junior PhD student in Delphi, Greece (2007). I remember him as someone always generous in his time for junior researchers and who had that gift of always making you feel like this conversation was exactly where he wanted to be right now. Due to his scientific excellence, conversations were always highly interesting, but also FUN. Thanks also to him for being external examiner to my own first PhD student. All those aforementioned qualities made him an obvious choice and, of course, we shared an excellent lunch beforehand as well.
