We met Deborah Lambillotte when ArciLesbica Zami was still a young association and we were more inexperienced, more discriminated against, more defiant than today. In 1998 she was our first trans member and until 2002 she was in our steering committee: together we struggled, we partied and we discussed. She taught us things we ignored about transsexual life with grace, intelligence and humour; she handed us books such as Martine Rothblatt’s The apartheid of sex. And then she returned to Belgium where she continued her political commitment. We met again several times, always in friendship, in Italy or at the meetings of ILGA Europe, of which she was co-president. We remember her fondly and talk about her to those who have not known her, now that she has left us so untimely: she was a feminist, a citizen of the world, an activist against all oppressions, a friend with a ringing laughter, upbeat as we would like to be. Thank you, Deborah. Lucia Giansiracusa, Cristina Gramolini, Helen Ibry, Francesca Polo and all ArciLesbica Zami (Milano)
