I am sorry to hear this sad news. I first met David as a PhD student at Cambridge. He was such an amazing support - always so generous with his time, funny, kind and so supportive. I was also privileged to work with David once I become an Academic, even though I moved to Australia he supported me, inviting me to write with him. David was one of a kind. It is such a loss. My thoughts are with his family and friends at this sad time.
