Dave was a shift inspector at the West Midlands Hazardous Waste Unit when I first met him all those years ago. Always had a smile on his face and he loved a chat and laugh, usually over a cuppa. Happy days. I remember showing him how to use our gas monitoring equipment as he was doing the Christmas shift one year when there was a serious risk of gas migration from one our landfills into some sheltered accommodation. Dave told me that whilst he did detect gas in the properties fortunately it was a result of the Christmas turkey and sprouts rather than the neighbouring landfill! Relief all round. Dave was a genuine top bloke, loved by all who knew him who’ll be sadly missed. Gone far too early. Farewell Dave x
