We are reeling with shock and sadness. David was an amazing colleague: Jewish by birth, he strove to learn indigenous ways and language and was completely immersed in respecting and caring for nature, friends and family, and teaching his students valuable life lessons.
I met David through my work with the Indigenous Strategy committees, and was impressed by his passion, his humility and his devotion to his family, friends and colleagues. He was quirky and interesting; conversations with him would go off on tangents and before you knew it, you were down a path you had never anticipated, but were always inspired to know more.
He will be hugely missed by all of us.
