Dave was warm, loyal and kind, full of interesting stories and very funny. A great memory for me is when he organised the Flamenco festival in the castle in Tarifa in about 2005. It was a big undertaking to put on a series of concerts by well known artists in that beautiful setting, and he was justifiably very proud and happy that it was such a huge success. I'll miss you Dave, love you mate ( from Vanessa Rogers) xxx
It was always a pleasure to bump into Dave in the old town of Tarifa and enjoy his infectious smile and cheery chats. I was very impressed to discover that he'd taken part in the daredevil Val des Terres Hill Climb race in Guernsey back in the seventies or whenever it was - rather like driving up a rollercoaster at top speed! Dave was always a true gentleman and I hope he knew how loved he is...
Farewell Dave. It was great to know you. A great support and a good guy. Babs & Gaz
Dave with our great friend Weldon Scrogham, Porsche racing legend from Virginia, at Daytona raceway Florida circa 1998. Weldon also sadly passed away earlier this year. Two truly wonderful characters who were truly dangerous when together.
Don’t mess with these boys! Barker loved Dave dog-sitting and had great affinity with him.
So many memories of Dave. But, when I picture him now, I see him simply strolling around town being dapper, cheery, and kind. He was such a delight and a one-off. We’re all going to miss him so much. His stories (oh my! those stories!!!), his cheeky smile, his bravery when things were tough, his integrity, his infuriation with us rabble rousers at quiz nights, all of it. Ach Dave, you’ll be such a miss :( Rest easy
Tarifa certainly won't be the same for me without his cheeky smile and wonderful stories. I was always greeted with a "Hello trouble" and a huge hug from day dot. From the first moment meeting Dave and having the pleasure of regularly serving him his first coffee of the morning shortly followed by a quick midday beer in Cafe Zumo nearly 20 years ago and we've been in each others lives ever since, enjoying everything from open mic nights in Moskito to family parties in Essex, Dave was part of my Tarifa family loved by me, my parents and siblings also. He never let me forget the time I murdered a Shikira (who he knew of course) song which he still took great joy in reminding me of 18 years down the road.. He was a funny, funny man and an absolute pleasure to know. Such a character, such a full and diverse life, such a lovely fella. I'll miss you my old friend.... Love, Emily x
I loved meeting up with Dave whether it was a catch up coffee or at my Opticians to replace another pair of broken specs. He truly was a great guy with fantastic story’s of his incredible life ... from racing cars, number one singles, Rolex watches ... the list goes on. His sweet smile and cheeky comments will be sorely missed. RIP DD we will miss you everyday over here in Tarifa !

Memories of Dave from the very first time I met him 20 years ago at a party in Tarifa, to the last time I saw him earlier this year. From jam nights in Moskito, teaching me how to re-string a guitar for the first time, and allowing me to (try to) play his lovely Martin parlour guitar! It will be very strange not to be bumping in to you next time we're in Tarifa. Gone, but never forgotten! Love Julia xx Dave, coffee won't be the same in the mornings without you passing by. Good memories during the 20 years I've known you, wish I'd known you 20 years before that as well! RIP mate, Steve.
