Darlington was not just a colleague, he was a very important member of the engineering family.
I have known Darlo for 10 years. I felt blessed to work with him again when we both moved from Brighton University to Coventry University around the same time in 2015. We shared some modules but also several memories and thoughts. I have not come across a more respectful, cheerful and moral person than Darlo.
He was making everyone’s day when meeting people and absorbing their work stress. He was kind to new staff members and helpful to others. The students loved him to bits. He was listener, joyful, knowledgeable, connected, and confident but down to earth. He never showed off although he knew a lot.
My heart breaks every time I remember that I will only see Darlo’s spirit in the corridors and the echoes of his smiles.. Life won’t be the same for me and many other colleagues but he is in a good place. He left significant positive impacts on many people’s lives, and they will certainly pray for him every time they remember him..
