Our family has sadly lost our papa and lolo Cris Serrano on April 13, 2021. He died at the age of 87 in his home in Davao City surrounded by his family. Born in Cabanatuan, Nueva Ecija in 1934, Cris completed his medical education at the University of the Philippines College of Medicine in 1958, where he met his wife Pat. He trained in Internal Medicine at the Philippine General Hospital before settling in Davao City, where he was invited to head the Department of Medicine at Brokenshire Hospital. In 1966, Cris, along with his wife and several other doctors, co-founded what would become Davao Doctors Hospital. He remained a dedicated clinician and educator at the hospital for decades. He is known by his residents to be exceptionally consistent and prompt in doing his rounds – a trait they learned to adopt in their own clinical practices. One of the last lessons he imparted upon his family is the grace to accept one's condition. He hardly complained throughout his later years as he succumbed to his illness. He bore it in his usual fashion - with quiet dignity. Up to the very end, he remained a model to be emulated and admired. Cris will be remembered as a steadfast trailblazer, an honorable leader, a brilliant and compassionate cardiologist and mentor, a loving father, and above all, a selfless, simple, and God-fearing man. Cris is survived by his loving wife Pat, his 3 devoted children Gigi and her husband Philip, Junjun and his wife Cecile, and Ronnie, and 5 grandchildren Corinne, Isabel, Carlo, Katrina, and Anna. ### In lieu of flowers and/or wreaths, a donation instead will be much appreciated for the charities of the Our Lady of the Assumption Parish, their parish church.
