My immediate thoughts are with Ashlene, Matthew and Pearse as well the entire family circle. Colm will also be sadly missed by the extended Railway family and will always be revered for his heroic efforts to prevent the railway closure in the northwest, which gladly had a successful outcome and testament to this was the multi-million pound investments since that included the recent reopening of the original Waterside Station as well as track and signalling upgrades on the route. It’s hard to imagine now what it would have been like not to have a rail connection to our Provinces second city, obviously it would have been very damaging to the region in too many ways to mention but 17 years ago it was a real threat. In the work sense where I knew him best Colm will also be remembered for being a people person, a great workmate and having a fantastic sense of humour so it will take a while for many to come to terms with his loss.
