I met Christian some years ago while working in London. He was funny, didn't hesitate to laugh at himself and filled the room with positive energy. I once presented to some government officials in Brussels and Christian hosted me: dinner together was beer and fries in a little take-out joint by a park and was great fun! More recently, Christian told a few of us in Houston all about his programmable lawn-mower and how brilliant it was. We laughed and teased him, as was usual when Christian was in a group. We will miss him for his professional contribution and also very much for who he was as a person. My sincere condolences to family and friends.
