Dear Daniel, You left for glory land but I am still longing to talk to you about missions budget. We got closer with each other after you assumed the Chair of Missions Com. I respect you from my hearts in the way you desire to balance dispensing resources for God’s work, exercising stewardship and diligence in managing the largest of all our ministry budgets. Your budgets are well documented, clear and robustly justified. You epitomised that of a good and faithful servant, in our eyes. You made time and responded spontaneously to pray over the phone each time we had to make challenging decisions about the budget; when we can’t find time to meet or when I am overseas.
I certainly had a memorable dinner experience with you last year as we tried to connect, beyond committee-type work. As we begun to share our background, family challenges and God’s faithful hand in our lives, you talked easily. This laid the foundation for further chats.
It was a delightful moment when you called out to me and my wife when we were walking down King Albert MRT station and you were in the coveted Standard Chartered Bank Marathon vest running back to your home. For you to be able to spot our masked up faces, whilst running, speaks volumes about the state of your physical fitness – I exclaimed, then.
Your home-calling is unexpected. When we meet again in Glory land, I am not sure if we will still be doing budgets but certainly I look forward to continue deepening our fellowship and lifting our hands together, in praise of our Sovereign God.
Till we meet again,
Teoh Khoon
