When Brian joined the Church as a teenager, he and I were the only young men in the ward. He was two years older than I, and the two of us became very firm friends. We served together, he as branch librarian and I as assistant librarian. He was like an older brother to me, and we got on so very well with each other. I moved away, and we did not keep in close contact. Nevertheless, I continued to look up to Brian as one of the best friends I had ever had. What impressed me deeply was his kindness and his interest in people, even as a teenager. Although I now live on the other side of the world, one of the best things about my infrequent visits to Northampton has been the opportunity to get reacquainted with Brian.
Brian was one of the kindest, most decent, most humble men I ever met. I honor his memory and am saddened by his loss. I send my sincere condolences and love to his family. I was so glad to be able to participate in his funeral service and listen to the wonderful tributes paid to him by his family. They described so well the Brian that I knew and loved.
