B-Dawg/ Brett-a-manger, we miss you immensely. Your consideration and support of others and incredible sense of humour were next level, and I always appreciated your ability to win over YPs and families. I recall you once joking about turning up to collect a YP from school in a dinosaur onesie, and winning over another YP who barely spoke to me with your boundless knowledge of PS5 games. I miss every 10mins Teams call turning into a half an hour minimum, and how much laughter you brought wherever you went. Thanks for always having our backs (one particularly challenging home visit comes to mind!) and YOT is not the same without you. I hope you knew what a difference you made. Big love, G-Whizzle

Brett it was always a pleasure and and joy to chat with you. Your dedication and commitment to the people you worked with was always full throttle. It was great to see how you worked with everyone and to hear their feedback about you and how much people enjoyed working with you. You have been taken to soon and may you rest in peace.

What a legacy you've left with so many people remembering your warmth, kindness, and humour. Despite my best efforts I didn't get to work with you for very long; somehow I couldn't persuade you that Farnborough wasn't reeallly that far away. But in that short time you made sure you were part of the team. I lost count of how many people would tell me how great you were and wanting you to stay. From a personal perspective, I'm going to miss knowing that you're out there making people smile, making their days just that little bit better. And I will always be grateful for your warmth and inclusivity x

Brett you made coming to work a joy. The Team couldn’t spend time with you and not laugh, your vibrant personality was infectious. A couple of memories from our short four months of working together was you finding yourself hilarious and giggling away. Starting every conversation with me with ‘’oh good morning, Madam’’ in your silliest poshest voice. Starting every working day with an exceptionally brilliant GIF which would make the whole team smile. Also when a child walked out of one of our sessions and refused to talk to me because I wasn’t you! (You definitely liked to remind me of this). The children that you worked with connected to your authenticity, its was absolutely amazing to see some of the connections you were able to build in really short spaces of time. We will really miss you.

I vividly remember Brett's first day with YCP and being asked to meet with him on MS Teams (back in the midst of the initial lockdown and deep in Covid times). I was late to the call and true to form not too interested in being sociable and welcoming, hoping to get it done quickly... 2 hours later we ended the call, having discovered he knew my sister (who no one knows) from his school days!! We had people in common and put the world to rights. After that we spoke most days - he called me his 'Yoda' and it was nice to help someone get their head around our crazy job. I will never not be shocked by how many people Brett knew and how well loved he is around Gosport and Lee - whenever I saw him, someone always wanted to stop and catch up. They all had something lovely to say and he was clearly well loved. He moved roles and we haven't had much contact in recent years, but i will miss him.

From Steve Falkner- YOT Volunteer. Such a larger than life character and full of fun and mischief. I know many of the YP he's dealt with had a real connection with his unstuffy approach. I will miss his contribution.

Dear Brett, I have so many memories with you that I just cant list all of them. My favs though are when I walked into my first RJ team meeting and I thought you were the big boss haha, our Christmas Lunches were always a hoot where we laughed outrageously! Not forgetting that we were almost kicked out of the meeting room at EII Court because we were being too loud in another team meeting. I will miss your words of wisdom and your listening ear, it doesn't quite seem real to me and the fact that "you're just an email or teams call away" isn't the case anymore will take a long, long time to get used to. Rest easy up there my love, you will be missed dearly xxx

I remember when I was at the Football Project in Fareham and a child had been delivered in studded football boots and couldn't play in the indoor gym. So that the child wasn't left out and could join in the session, Brett took his own trainers off and let the child wear them. Brett continued at full steam, up and down the gyn, in his socks. I remember thinking, what a selfless act it was at the time and it showed his passion for helping children to feel wanted and included. A true act of kindness.
