Tributes to my Bosom Friend and Brother - Bassey Solomon Ekpoh
One of the greatest things and gift that happened to me coming to Port Harcourt was to come in contact with you. I remember looking for a discipleship centre having been in one in Ilorin, Kwara State under the labour of Dr, Joseph Ajala and Dr Gbenga Mukuolu. You kept asking me to join a centre but my job wouldn’t allow me. You sent me a link for Milert 2020 so that I can become a better Christian and serve God acceptably. You were my prayer partner, confidant, burden bearer and a great encourager to my family. Writing this tribute of your demise to join the saint triumphant is with a heavy heart. Your wife called me around 11am on the day of your passing on that you were strong, immediately I left for your house to see you and was also with you till about three and half hours before you were called to glory. I wanted to stay longer but you kept asking me to go to church so that I won’t be late for the mid week service. I called after the service and got a confirmation that your breathing was okay. Two hours later, again my Phone rang to rush down that you were passing on but before I got to your house within the space of ten minutes you didn’t even wait to say bye to me, you kept saying it is well with you and you would not go to the hospital because Hospital had failed you. I remember you said to me you would rather through yourself in God’s hands for the miraculous, You threw yourself in His hands as you said and you join the train even though difficult to accept your departure, Brother Bassey your life though short added value to my Christian life and really challenged me to serve God better than what am doing presently. Your dedication to the service of God was inspiring, your simplicity and drive for excellence was unique. You will be deeply missed by many, and in our hearts, you live on. On behalf of my family, I offer my deepest condolences to my Dear Sister Nancy, the entire Ekpoh’s family. I pray for strength, comfort and clarity in this period.
