As a kid I was always in awe of Barry's height and his deep, rich voice which I will never forget. He always had a smile and gave you his full attention when you spoke with him. As a kid that was a pretty big deal! I was always struck by his gentleness, and I'll never forget the time years ago when Emmi and I brought our pet love bird 'Unchi' to the Christmas party at Dee's. Unchi was a very funny and entertaining bird but was not at all hand friendly. He'd perch on your head, but if you put your finger anywhere near her she'd bite and bite hard. It was time to head for home and we were coaxing the bird back into the cage, when Barry just walked over, very gently picked her up and stroked her feathers like they'd both been friends since birth! I really felt the peace in him as a force of nature at that time and Emmi and I were both deeply impressed. We will miss Barry dearly, but are so glad to know that his daughter and family were with him when he passed. In the end, we can't ask for more that. God bless you and keep you Barry!
