Thank you Arnab, for always being a strong advocate of partnership between the business and HR, showing up authentically as yourself, and your words of kindness and encouragement. Despite my move to a commercial HR role, you continued to maintain our connect sessions, mentoring me in my new role, including me in the business review meetings to build my business understanding, and being a strong sponsor throughout. I will truly miss working with a brilliant business partner like you.

Hi Arnab, thank you for everything both professionally and personally. It has been a long working relationship in J&J with you right from my day 1 in J&J. You have been a great mentor and have learned a lot from you - how to manage work, people in a challenging environment. Though you were quite tough with us sometimes, but we all know that you are a great person at heart and was always ready to support and help us. You definitely are being missed by all of us as you have a huge impact on us as a team... Thank you for everything......

Since I heard the dreaded news from Bhavesh, it was difficult for me to come to terms with sharing my thoughts about my association with Arnab! I met Arnab soon after he joined J&J India and we developed a close working relationship as he used to visit Mumbai Branch regularly in his role as Internal Auditor. During my several interactions with Arnab, I found him to be not only highly knowledgeable and competent in his area of expertise but a very warm hearted human being. It is heartbreaking for everyone, his family, colleagues and friends. A person of Aranab's talent, skills and knowledge had so much to offer to his dear one's and society as whole. My heart reaches out to Arnab's family, friends and his loved ones. Dear Arnab, I am so sorry I failed to keep in touch with you since I left India. But you were in my thoughts always. Be happy dear friend wherever you are now ❤️

With a prayer on my lips and a heart filled with so many memories I write this today for my dear friend Arnab . A colleague, a trustworthy friend and my confidante - We spent an enjoyable 3 years together in Indonesia in a complex and difficult business environment. We worked relentlessly together driving an aggressive growth agenda which would not have been possible without Arnab’s ability to challenge, negotiate and find resources that I did not believe we could find. He was a brilliant finance professional with an unmatched work ethic and humility. He was unfazed by complexity, it probably brought out the best in him. Someone with a tremendous ability to take on multiple dimensions of complexity and still be able to deliver on all fronts. Arnab was warm and friendly and had a disarming smile that would endear one and all to him. Arnab being Arnab could never make it to morning meetings on time. He loved watching tennis till late and would always show up a little late in his favourite purple shirt. (I used to joke with him to not save money and buy a new suit and clothes) Arnab believed in doing good work and letting that speak for itself, he never took the effort to engage with leaders he had worked in the past to ask for sponsorship or support for his next move. I remember telling him many times to reach out to engage in career conversations but he was too shy to do that. The only times we spoke was when I reached out to Arnab. I had huge respect for him as a professional and always remember the great time we had together . I connected with him on his birthday on 26th October- that was the last time we spoke . Arnab will always live on in our hearts and I will always treasure the fond memories forever . Miss you my friend Vishhnu

I worked with Arnab when he took over Med Device Regional Office. Arnab was always cool, no issue was too big an issue that couldn't be managed calmly. Our partnership did not last very long as I moved on to other projects but every time I bumped into him, Arnab was still the same cool guy with his hands in his pocket asking "So what are you busy with now?" It is hard to believe you're gone Arnab, rest in peace.

Thank you Arnab for always being there for folks around you. I will miss you both as a friend and as a dear colleague. You always stood up for what you felt was right and you would never ever shy away from a challenge. You never sweated the small stuff and had great big picture thinking. You were always one of the people that I could count on to get the unvarnished truth related to anything. Taking time to help folks around you was so inbuilt in you. I am going to miss our corridor chats, our seemingly 5 min Zoom calls (which would eventually turn into much longer ones) and our debates on anything related to the business and otherwise. Rest In Peace, my friend!! - Vishy

Thank you for all the wonderful memories and for being The Coolest and The Nicest Boss ever. I’m honored to be your Assistant since I joined J&J in 2015 when you were Finance Director in Indonesia. Even when you moved to Spore and assigned as CFO SEA, I feel and I insist that I am still your Assistant (yes, I adore you that much!). You showed us endless care and support no matter how busy you were. I remember that you wear Purple almost everyday. And eat Ifumie every single day and will not have anything for lunch unless I ordered it for you. That’s why I did it anyway when I was on leave, making arrangement from out of town even when you didn’t ask for it. May you rest in peace… You will always have a special place in our heart

Thank you Arnab for your time to share learnings and guidance since the day I got to know you. Having just joined JNJ 6 years back, you helped me settle into my new role and provide great advice and as usual, setting your expectations upfront. It was a hectic start with ID and you know best on how it was. Despite your hectic schedule, you never fail to take time to have small talk and check in on how you can help. It is still shocking news to me, and will definitely miss the regular chats. Rest well, Arnab. My deepest condolences to Mitali & family.

This came as one of the most shocking news to me . I know Arnab since 2001 when he was Internal Audit Manager & I joined J&J as a Management trainee. Even though I was so new to J&J , one person who really made me comfortable was Arnab. I used to go to his office many times to chat with him & understand how J&J India was preforming in his various Audits. At that time he wanted to pursue additional degree Company Secretary exam & he asked me so many questions on how best he can prepare & succeed in this exam. And of course he succeeded immediately. Unfortunately I never got an opportunity to work for him directly but we were connected indirectly throughout our careers in J&J . He was in J&J India Shared services when I was in Medical India Finance & then he was in Medical Regional Office Aspac when I joined LGS Singapore & Malaysia. So we were always in touch somewhere, somehow. One great thing i would like to share about him was he was exactly same friend & Senior to me both in 2000 & in 2021. There was no change in his style, behavior when he quickly grew from Manager to Senior Director. He was exactly same Arnab to me & I was same to him . Whenever we met across on corridor he used to ask me many questions, crack some jokes & that would really make my day. Even in 2019 when he came to Manila for Business reviews, he used to message me for a quick informal 1:1 & I used to love talking to him .. May god bless your soul Arnab & may god give your family great strength to bear this pain & cross this huddle of life..

I am devastated hearing this news about Arnab. I have known him for more than 20 years. He was with J&J Internal Audit when I was handling I2C for India North region. He would come to audit our internal processes and I would admire the insights and recommendations he would provide to improve upon what we used to do. No amount of preparation was enough for the audit as Arnab would delve deep and wide and was brilliant in asking questions and seeking out info he would need. His strong business acumen and easy on the go attitude enabled him to strike up a conversation with everyone and enabled him to build ever lasting relationships. Many years later I had the opportunity to work with Arnab when he took over the Medical Device regional role and thereafter when he moved on to SEA roles. He had this brilliant knack of asking the right questions and probing you which many times helped me question my own assumptions and come up with better solutions. I will miss those impromptu chats with Arnab which we used to have outside the J&J building. I will miss a friend who would offer honest and sound advice and a happy individual with everlasting smile who was a joy to interact with. Rest in peace my friend.

Thank you, Arnab, for being a true friend in many ways. Even in my short time in J&j, you gave me guidance and encouragement unselfishly. I already knew what a kind hearted person you are - serious at work yet really a true gentleman, fun, witty, and kind soul at heart. Thank you for just being yourself, you are an inspiration to me, to many of us who do our best to change and improve the trajectory of health for humanity. Your firm yet loving hands had always guided J&j SEA in the best possible way. Your smile will forever be in my heart and that will always be my finest and fondest memory of you. MORE POWER, Arnab, and huge thanks for being a part of our lives. We'll all miss you dearly.

It has been a very shocking and devastating news. Arnab was a great colleague and a dear friend. I have always been amazed with his clarity of thought, purpose and leadership. Arnab always spoke from the heart and did not hestitate to challenge anyone and everyone. He was a true Johnsonian and lived our credo every day. He was an inspiring leader and always focused on people. He always saw the big picture and was never distracted from the smaller details. I always loved my chats with him since we always had very candid conversations about any topic under the sun - personal and profressional discussions. We used to catch up regularly and our last chat was on 10th Dec. As always, we ended up talking on various topics and we had to close the call since he had to rush for another meeting. We discussed his plans to visit his parents in January as he has not been to India for past two years. May God give his wife Mitali and parents the strength to bear the loss. May his soul rest in peace.

I will always remember all our 1-on-1 sessions in Manila and Singapore and how you gifted me with your extensive knowledge on life and work. You are also very generous person and a firm advocate of talent development, including my own personal career growth. You have invested all your time and efforts in J&J and SEA BUF, and for that, I am truly grateful. Rest well, Arnab - and know that you will forever be missed.

My name is Krishnan and I have been a long time friend and colleague of Arnab - have known him for almost 3 decades, ever since he joined J&J. The first thing about Arnab that comes to my mind is his warmth and ever smiling face - we used to typically bounce into each other outside the office lobby and would end up spending 30 plus minutes talking and laughing about everything under the sun - it is something I will miss so dearly. Arnab was a master at multi-tasking right from his early days in J&J. I still remember Arnab during his Internal audit days in J&J, using every bit of his spare time and lunch time(he hardly used to eat lunch) studying for his CFA exams - such was his commitment and focus. While someone meeting Arnab for the first time would label him as shy and introvert, for those who were close to him, he was exactly the opposite - he could talk for hours together, without fear or malice. There are many things that I can write about Arnab's leadership qualities, from his business acumen - to his ethical mindset - to his passion for nurturing talents but the one thing which I am so proud of Arnab and which I want to emulate is his authentic and humble leadership. Arnab never has had to think because he always spoke the truth - even if it might be not the one you want to hear. Everything for Arnab was on trying to put the problem or the issue as it is and trying to collectively find a solution to the same. It was this authentic and humane nature of Arnab that endeared him dearly to thousands of employees in J&J and beyond. As shocked, devastated and sad that I am of hearing this terrible news of a very dear friend, I want to thank and celebrate the outstanding contributions of Arnab to J&J and to many of us, over the years. You will forever be in our hearts and you will be terribly missed. Rest in peace, my dear friend - you are the brightest star that I have known over a long long time.

My Boss, My Friend "What are you busy with?" you would ask "Learn to prioritize", you'd bellow "Keep you audience in mind", you'd coach "What and why are we doing all this for?"….... if not for Our Teams Not a day passed, where you were not working on an improvement for our SEA Finance teams If you got upset, that was because you cared thrice as hard Gosh, it was Tough Love…....but love your team you did!! You stretched us at work to be our optimal best, nothing less Outside work, the expanse of your subject interests and depth of your thoughts, quite unparalled The debates, good banter and your gift of language …..... It feels surreal that we will not receive another email or text from you Walking the 7th floor of the Ascent or starting up the laptop everyday will feel different You left us in SEA, the void is 7 oceans wide and deep. Miss you dearly Arnab and Thank You profusely. Ruv

As I was settling down on Friday in New York a message from Keyur shook me up. The message read “Shocking news on Arnab” and immediately some of my worst nightmares came true. As I tried to grapple with the reality of the situation there are so many memories of Arnab which flashed through my mind. I thought an appropriate farewell for Arnab would be to share my great memories with Arnab. I came to know Arnab in J&J India as someone who rarely spoke.. I had to go to him many times to solicit a good conversation. His regular visits to the road outside the main building of J&J for his round of smoke would be something that I distinctly remembered from old times (approx. 2 decades back). This habit continued till his last day at work.. After a few months he did open up and we became great colleagues and friends thereafter. We would share many lighter moments about work and we had common interest as well as pain points (sometimes we complained on the same people !). I also saw him grow tremendously as a leader. He matured from handling Treasury of J&J India to being the CFO for One J&J in SEA. He was a workaholic to the core and had very limited interests outside work but yet we managed to converse on multiple occasions every day surrounding people, investments and his way of life. I never missed an opportunity to pull his leg on his frugal living. He also hated physical work outs. I once forced him to walk with me for 3 hours in Singapore and he never thereafter came walking with me though I tried my best. He had a great knack on judging people (something that I admired the most) and would give me insights on people that no others could. Also he had a very conservative outlook on investments and both me and Keyur would always make fun on his investment styles and habits. Unfortunately I did not keep in touch with Arnab as often as I should have (we met only a couple of times in the past 21/2 years) once I left J&J. I will miss him along with many others who he has touched during his lifetime. May his soul Rest in Peace. Thanks for all the wonderful memories Arnab.

I remember my first meeting with Arnab. It was virtual, as things are these days. We both appeared on screen, and he said to me : "Oh wow! We have the same fashion sense!". We were both wearing a Lacoste polo t-shirt. And his next question to me was.. Do you play tennis? One thing that was so amazing about Arnab is the very obvious way of how proud he was about his team. We would have challenging conversations on business and blahblahs, but when it came to his team, Arnab always so visibly was proud and beaming about them. The last thing i want to share was my last meeting with Arnab; Thank you Arnab for that super boost of confidence and share of laughs I so sorely needed as we closed this really challenging year during our last meeting. I will painfully miss your laughter and booming voice, in person and in zoom.

My name is Christina Ang and a long time colleague of Arnab. Though Arnab and I have never been in the same team, we connected very well, I suppose because of both our long tenors in JnJ that there is so much to talk about and share. Arnab would often popped by my office at The Strategy, 7th Floor, each time he visited Singapore from Indonesia where he was the FD and checked how Medical was doing. Just like the smile in this picture, he was always smiling regardless of the stress level, which was very admirable. Will definitely miss this smile and the hallway chats. Unfortunately there are truths that we have to accept but memories will not be forgotten. Rest in peace Arnab and may you be in a better place!
