Andrew Erwin Vinson, 35, of Taos, NM, died Friday, October 21, 2016, in Taos. Andrew was born June 7, 1981, in Duncan, OK, to Ed and Sonya Vinson. He graduated from Snyder High School in 1999, where he was a member of the golf team. An avid student of the Bible, Andrew traveled to Israel while in high school to visit historic religious sites. He earned an associate degree from Western Texas College. He was married in December 2003 to Kimberly McClain. In 2008, he served as the Scurry County representative to the Texas Democratic Convention.
For the past two years, Andrew lived in Taos, NM, where he was restoring a family cabin and volunteering at the Not Forgotten Outreach Veterans Farming Project. While in Taos, he adopted his faithful canine friend, Eeyore. Andrew was a talented artist - he was a skilled painter and draftsman, and was learning stained glass. Andrew also had a terrific sense of humor and frequently entertained his family with clever, original songs.
He is survived by his parents Ed and Sonya Vinson, of Snyder, TX; his older sister, Elisa Borah, her husband Adam Borah, and their children Madeline and Zachary of Georgetown, TX; his brother Edward Vinson and his son Caleb of Franklin, NC; and younger sister, Emily Vinson and her husband Danny Fuller, of Houston, TX. He is also survived by his grandmother Elaine Vinson and aunt, Jacqueline Vinson, of Tulsa, OK; his uncle and aunt John Vinson and Karen Strickler, of Parma, ID; and cousins Richard and Cheryl Maxwell, of Ruston, LA.
