Andrew was one of the founding members of the Herbal Medicine team at Lincoln University. He joined us here at the college, along with a number of Complementary Medicine staff in 2012, when we took over this provision. Since then he has orchestrated the development of the new BSc Clinical Herbalism and in 2019 his long standing ambition to validate an MSc in Herbal Therapeutics was realised.
Andrew is a well known and very well loved member of the broader Herbal community. Countless students have been inspired to study and practice herbal medicine as a result of his influence and his unique and individual approach to the theories and philosophies of his profession gave him a celebrity-like status that he accepted so graciously.
Andrew was such a pleasure to work and spend time with and he will be sorely missed by a great many people.

I first met Mr Stableford when I was 9 now 41! I remember going to this little terraced house full of herb pictures and big brown bottles full of what I thought were “potions”! And there he was in a blue suit, old boots, glasses, long scraggly hair and a big beard. I thought mum had bought me to see a mad professor!! The last time I saw him not too long ago we laughed about the taste of his “potions”he was adamant they tasted lovely (even without water) me however couldn’t abide them! What I would give now to have a never ending supply. Throughout all these years he has been there for me not just for my tonic and drops but emotionally too. I could never thank him enough for all he did to help me. I shall miss him so very much. Just hearing his lovely caring voice over the phone was a tonic it itself. To the family, thankyou for allowing Mr Stableford to do what he loved the most. He has left a legacy that will live on forever and for that I am sure many will be eternally grateful. With love to his wife, children (of which he was so very proud of) family, friends and colleagues. We will never forget you xx
