I met Sandy in October 2018 at Costa's at the Overgate in Dundee. I had recently stepped down as chair of a community forum and we were meeting to discuss my joining the Dundee Local Licensing Forum. I wasn't looking for a community group where I'd be just another seat to fill. I listened to Sandy for the good part of an hour tell me about the DLLF. Not just what it did, but why; what it had accomplished, the people and agencies it had brought together, the challenges still to face. His passion gave me what I always look for in any organisation, be it occupational, community forum, activist group; a sense of purpose.
Reading the memories, condolences and tributes fill me with regret that I did not know this man longer than was gifted me.
My sincere and deepest condolences to Sandy's family, all the others who loved him and his many friends.
