AIleen. My oldest and dearest friend. We first met in Durham running the Fair Trade shop at St Nicholas Church. From there our 40 years of friendship spanned the joys and sorrows of children growing, weddings, funerals, grandchildren and everything in between.
I well remember the day AIleen came with a bottle of wine and the news that she and Adrian were moving to London. We moved soon afterwards to a village in Teesdale. It’s hard to imagine a greater contrast but our ‘round the corner’ friendship changed seamlessly to weekend visits, coffee in Brixton Market, country pub lunches, the Chelsea Flower Show and mid week breaks in towns along the East Coast line. To name but a few.
AIleen was such a lovely steadfast friend to so many especially to me. We had 40 years of wonderful friendship. I will miss her so much as we all will.
Much love to Adrian and family.
