As the program lead of the NCUK foundation program and his EAP teacher, I was one of the first people to have the pleasure of meeting and working with Santi. I very clearly remember induction day and how his enthusiasm shone through from that first day. Despite being the youngest student on the program at that time, his maturity went above his years. Though he later changed to the A level program, I continued to have the pleasure of working with Santi at the boarding house. He was a valued boarder to friends, peers and staff. He will be very much missed but never forgotten!
Santi was and always been a good friend of mine. I had the chance to see his side that not many of us knew about. I am glad that I had the chance to let him know that he is a great person to me and nothing could change that ever since the first day I met him because he had good intentions to achieve whatever he wanted to do in his life and make it work. Moreover, I often encouraged him because I knew he had the courage, potential, knowledge and strong determination to succeed in life. I am also glad that he shared what was like life back in China before he moved to England. I remembered that he complimented my Mandarin because I would often talk to him in some funny phrases in Mandarin that he would often find it amusing. I would like to thank him for the times, memories and interactions I had with him because it was really fun and enjoyable. May he rest in peace.
I was introduced to Santi during my role as Head of Maths at Chelsea Independent College. At the time he was on an NCUK foundation course and though we’d said hello in the corridor we had never really chatted. I’d heard good things about his maths from his teacher so when he asked if he could switch to A-levels, and pick up further maths, it was not a difficult decision. He fitted in perfectly to the further maths group: not only was his maths fantastic but he brought a refreshing enthusiasm, interest and sense of humour into the classroom. He was a bright, diligent and genuinely warm student who was a delight to share the classroom with. He will be sorely missed by his teachers; my heart goes out to his friends and family. Rest in peace.
I first came across Santi when covering an NCUK business class and straight away the questions that he asked and his ability to critically evaluate different business concepts showed how intelligent he was . Soon enough, Santi joined the Year 12 A-level business group where he continued to excel and showed a genuine desire to fully understand each topic that we covered. As well as his academic ability, and in my view more importantly, Santi was a polite, humourous, warm young man who was well liked by his peers and always willing to share a joke (usually at his friends' expense). On top of this he always had a good recommendation for a Chinese restaurant in London! Santi will be sadly missed at CIC and it is tragic that somebody so young is taken from us without being given the chance to fulfill his potential
