Vishna Rasiah

July 19, 1971 - April 23, 2020

Dr Vishna Rasiah, beloved husband, father, brother, son and a well-respected and much-loved colleague at Birmingham Women’s and Children’s, has sadly passed away following treatment for COVID-19. Dr Rasiah, known to all his friends as Vish, was a Consultant Neonatologist at Birmingham Women’s Hospital and was highly-regarded across the Midlands as part of his role as Clinical Lead for the regional Neonatal network. Vish was a proud husband and father. His wife Liza said: “We’re devastated at losing our beloved Vish. He was such a loving husband and father to our beautiful daughter Katelyn, and much loved son and brother to our family in Malaysia and Trinidad. His whole family meant the world to him, and he absolutely doted on Katelyn. Vish loved his work; to him it was so much more than a job and his colleagues are part of our family too. He treated every patient and family he cared for as his own; I couldn’t have been prouder of him. I would like to thank the staff at Worcestershire Royal Hospital for the kindness, compassion and the care that they have provided to us over an incredibly difficult past few weeks.”

Dear Liza and Katelyn, I had the pleasure of knowing Vish as a colleague and also as a parent. He was the first person to take care of our son when he was born with complex medical problems. He could not have been in safer, more capable or better hands and now he is a healthy happy child thanks to Vish's care. Vish also took great care of us as well as worried parents. I also over the years have worked with him professionally as part of the cardiac team at BWCH and seen him do the same for so many more children and families. He will always remain an inspiration to so many, he possessed all the qualities and was a wonderful person and an outstanding doctor. It was a privilege to know him. Our thoughts and those of so many are with you. Tim Jones
