One of many great times at the Sevens. Hard to believe Tom is gone. He was a good friend with a big heart. He had a friend in every country and always made you feel welcome. Tom enjoyed life and lived it the right way. It’s not about the things you have - it’s about the people in your life, the places you see, the things you do and the stories you tell. May all the great stories of your life keep your memory alive. Rest in peace mate - will miss ya. Matt the Yank
Few of you will know me, my name is Peter Ward and I am Toms uncle living in Australia. I have't see Tom in many years but I can remember a cheery, quiet youngster who was smart beyond his years. My heart goes out to Minh and Rio, I've never met them but their anguish must be palpable and bottomless. For those around him please remember his sisters, Mary and Catherine. Mary, the eldest, always referred to him as her 'little buddy' and I suppose that is the way it will stay. Even though it has been so long since I seen him that doesn't make him any less my nephew and I am sitting here in tears for him and I would ask you all to remember his sisters in your prayers. I am in contact with Mary and I know she is utterly devastated, unfortunately I have never met Catherine but I am sure she is in the same way. Love to you Thomas, love to Minh and Rio, love to Mary, love to Catherine. God bless you all. Uncle Peter.
Here's a picture of Tom from a ski trip I organised and dragged him on in Australia in 2010. Tom looks that happy as he didn't actually go skiing on the three day trip. Instead he created and coerced a rebel group of the trip members to play drinking games in the ski bar. When I returned from skiing, Tom was negotiating with the bar staff for the group to not be expelled for creating smoke through the bar (burning paper napkins as part of the game) - which he succeeded in, and I joined the game. Tom was always loved and appreciated by all that knew him well, not just because wherever we were in the world he'd be the chief entertainment officer, but because he had a really big heart and a genuine quality of caring for those dear to him, often subtle, not flamboyant, but present and obvious through his surprisingly exceptional hugs . Tom was always there for me personally. I've always received messages from Tom, checking how I was when he knew things could be better; making damn sure I wasn't visiting HK without seeing him (I wasn't); or planning how we could tag on a fun trip to a work event to maximise its potential. You'll inspire many toasts and fond memories all over the world not only this week, but for all our time to come Tommy. You will be remembered and with love, I'll miss you buddy.
2005 - “Four squeezed limes and stirred to the left 3 times” - we had to stay up to Till 3am to phone Jon in HK, from Rosies. - only tom could make this sound like a good idea
Dextra / 2020 night out December 2005 - a fantastic night, organised by Tom. (The pic is taken in his flat in Chester) True story from that night: Batman walks into a pub and asks the barman "Have you seen Superman?" Barman casually replies "Yeah, he around the back having a beer with Wolverine"
So upset to hear the news about Tom. He was an all round great guy, and someone that I always looked up to. Nights out in Chester just won’t be the same without him.
Melbourne, London, Cardiff, Hong Kong. Great memories. Forget the hearse 'cause I never die, I got nine lives, cat’s eyes, abusin' every one of them and running wild. RIP Tom
A networking event that had gotten so boring, it had Tom formulate a plan in having a beer delivery service come to our saviour.
Gentleman’s Christmas Lunch 2018. What a gentle man and a lovable rogue. My first friend in Kennedy Town having shared the front bench at Quench on many an afternoon. Always willing to chat or to listen or just give you quiet time if that was your wish. As promised Tom, the elephant is on its way back to Africa in December. Cheers my friend.
It's hard to accept that you are gone. Remember all those nights we drank, talked and BS together. You made my boring work nights more interesting. Thanks for all those good memories. Rest in peace
