Given that I knew you for the best part of 50 years it seems incredible that you are no longer around. From the very beginning of your courtship of Eileen you showed me only friendship and support.
The hospitality both you and Eileen showed in Glasgow, Athens, Sharjah, Ajman and Cyprus was never less than outstanding.
The memories take little encouragement to come flooding back. Going to see Pananthanikos play in Europe in 1978 after my ill fated train journey to Athens is a story I still tell people to this day. My first Christmas in the UAE in 1989 when a marquee tent and caterers were hired for a never to be forgotten Christmas Day in the desert. These are two of the more memorable events in the rich tapestry of our lives.
More recently two lockdowns were spent together and it says a lot that apart from shouting at you to turn Bob Dylans 17 minute single off, there was rarely a cross word.
Your death will leave a large hole in amny people’s lives, especially Eileen, Ceirah and Kellen, but also mine. Thanks for the memories
