He often had interesting stories about his work and was always engaging. I was able to return Mary and Stan's hospitality when I was working in Cyprus in the mid-1980's and they stayed with my wife, two young sons and me for a holiday, being able to visit many different sights and, I recall, meeting some of my Cypriot friends. He will, I am sure, be sadly missed by all his family and friends.
