I first met Stan when he began courting my sister and I was about 10 years old. I must have been a real pest at that time. I remember hiding in the bushes in Aunt Maud’s house and spying on them! I remember them living in Chelmsford soon after they were married and Stan finished his Army Service and our later visits to their home in Norwich, a town they both loved. We had several enjoyable holidays together in England and later in Australia, one of which was in the tropical north.
Helen always had a soft spot for Stan.
We hadn’t seen much of Stan in recent years because of the tyranny of distance, but we kept in touch best we could after Mary died.
We will miss him.
