In the early part of December, 1944 Lt. Haas was transferred to artillery replacement overseas. He left the states the end of December 1944, going the European theater. At the time of his death he had been in combat for two months and was acting as Batallion Forward Observer. His last Duty Location enroute from Reichenborn to Oberbiel, Germany on March 27, 1945. Participated in battle of bulge, his jeep went over a landmine killing him.
