I met Sam within days of taking up post in Shropshire in January 2022 and quickly connected with our common backgrounds in infection prevention and control. We worked closely on the system approach to controlling Covid19 at the time, and that went on to form a strong relationship working together to support each other on this agenda. I could always rely on Sam for a listening ear, many “can I run this by you’s”, working selflessly in the system space and stepping in for me when needed to lead system IPC groups. I always valued the support and will continue to remember Sam for her willingness, kindness and support. Wishing Sam’s family and friends strength and love at this time following the most tragic loss to them and the nursing community.
