Where do I begin? I miss Reuven's unique friendship, support, generosity and humour everyday.I will always remember when going out for a meal together the constant necessity to stuff my pockets full with my car keys and mobile phone to secure their safety and then the recurring arguments over who was to pay the bill although peace did break out eventually when we agreed to share the bill even though I overpaid for the oysters and caviar (all Beth Din approved, of course).
I have selected one little story. This dates back to when despite my efforts, with others, to anglicize Reuven, including trying to teach him old English Anglo-Saxon words, he decided to go back to Eretz Yisroel. We went to visit Reuven and Loretta and the kids and, as instructed, took a quantity of chocolate and digestive biscuits apparently not easily available in Israel at that time.Reuven and Loretta agreed to give us the "Grand Tour" and one day we were following Reuven's car on a desolate road to Jericho when a car overtook us and then tailgated Reuven for sometime. Bored (one of Reuven's favourite words) with this Reuven stops his car and the following driver could not get by and then Reuven gets out of his car and opens the tailgate of his shooting break and then walks up to the other car and invites the driver to load his car into Reuven's car boot given the driver's apparent desire to be close to Reuven. Priceless.
