Ron Cutler

March 21, 1936 - August 15, 2020

Ron was for many of us, the heart of Lampeter Students Union. In a truly unique location, he was a one of a kind character - always there to listen, to chat and to hug! He played such a large part in many people's time in Lampeter. With his distinctive West Bromwich accent, that never softened despite his years in Wales, he gave his heart and soul to the Students' Union making it the safe and welcoming place it was for so many of us. In short, quite simply a lovely man to know.

Ron was brilliant, I thought the world of him. I worked behind the bar for 4 years we used to have some lovely chats , especially the 5.15-8pm Shift when it was quiet, he’d sit at the end of the bar with a cup of tea, telling stories. In the last few years we got into a little routine of having a Christmas catch up on the phone, and last year we had a lovely meet up with Claire Mcginty in Pershore. He showed us a family video and was so proud of his children, and grandchildren and all their achievements. I’ll miss hearing that enthusiastic “ Alright Blue!“ at other end of the phone . RIP Ron, we’ll miss you x
