Ron Cutler

March 21, 1936 - August 15, 2020

Ron was for many of us, the heart of Lampeter Students Union. In a truly unique location, he was a one of a kind character - always there to listen, to chat and to hug! He played such a large part in many people's time in Lampeter. With his distinctive West Bromwich accent, that never softened despite his years in Wales, he gave his heart and soul to the Students' Union making it the safe and welcoming place it was for so many of us. In short, quite simply a lovely man to know.

In my final year, Ron trained me to run the bar, which I loved, and this experience led to me becoming a license at the age of 23. Ron was so very kind to us all, he didn't suffer fools gladly, but really looked after us. In a way he was like a dad to many of us who were away from home for the first time. I learned so much from Ron, and never forgot the chance he gave me all those years ago. Ron was respected and loved by so many of us, he called everyone "Babs" or "Son" and gave the best hugs ever!
