Dear aunty Inez, Rohan & Lalin
Please accept my deepest sympathies. Besides the many times where our families met socially, I also had the opportunity of getting many a ride from him from Kurunegala to Kandy (was it a Datsun that you had?). I distinctly remember his innate ability of communicating with me in a manner that I felt I was having a conversation with him, and not a conversation about him! I can see why so many Trinitian’s of different generations visited you both through these many years (besides of course your amazing food that you always serve!). He was such a warm and friendly person; as brief as the encounters seem with the passage of time, I feel lucky that I got to meet him and interact with him, you don’t require hindsight to know that you were always in the presence of a distinguished gentleman.
Later today, I am meeting with 6 other Trinitian’s. We will be raising a glass, making a toast to uncle Robert and reminding ourselves how lucky we were to have met him
