Rob Swartbol was an Ambassador of the Kingdom of the Netherlands to Indonesia, Timor-Leste and ASEAN in 2014-2019. During his tenure, he had touched many lives and hearts by his kindness, integrity and great leadership. He is survived by his lovely parents, spouse, two sons and a daughter-in-law. We, colleagues at the Embassy, are greatly saddened by his untimely passing.

    Dear Rob, You (together with Pak Ferdinand) were the first of many things in the office and beyond. Because of you (two), I had the chance to be the first of many local staff PAs to the Ambassador at the Dutch Embassy. You were the first Ambassador I called by his first name. You torn down the wall separating you from the rest of your staff, opening your door to all of us. I remember you said that you wanted us to feel safe and comfortable approaching and talking to you. I could even share my stories from home (on some men I had a crush on as well, I'll definitely miss our sharing time). Your love to your family inspires me. I do hope I can follow in your footsteps as I have my own family as well. Rob, you may be gone but you will never be forgotten ❤

    He was a very enthusiastic person and knew how to party :). At the end of the embassy outing we always organized a closing party and he always made sure that beer is ready, podium is set and people enjoy the party by dancing with, singing along and laughing together. You were our big boss but you were approachable and a nice person to talk to. May you rest in peace pak Rob. God bless you.
